I was counting down the days until the Book wedding, because Aaron and Sara’s winter wedding was my first wedding of the new year! These past few months, I have spent time preparing for their day, prepping my gear, and purchasing small items for their wedding detail photos.

When I pulled into the Holiday Inn and Suites parking lot, my heart started to beat just a little bit quicker – I was so excited to be there! As quickly as I could, I gathered all of my things, hauled my gear up to the fourth floor, and was greeted by the beautiful bride, Sara, and her bridesmaids. They had mimosas in hand, all wearing matching pajamas!

In the bridal suite, Sara hopped into her wedding dress in preparation for the big day. I could not help but notice the beautiful lace detail on her ivory wedding dress! Her sleeveless, ivory, a-line wedding dress showed off her tattoos perfectly, just like she hoped it would!

When we got to the Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Iowa, I instantly noticed their beautiful, yet simple, decorations inside the church. Aaron and Sara attached small bouquets of baby’s breath to the ends of the pews, down the aisle of the church. It was just enough to light up the space.

After the newly married Mr. and Mrs. Book said “I do” and sealed it with a kiss. They exited the church to be greeted by all of their wedding guests and many bubbles and hopped on the party bus to make their way to the reception.

Aaron and Sara were really hoping for a fresh snowfall for their wedding day, but Mother Nature wasn’t on our side this time. We were lucky enough to have a little snow on the ground from a snowfall a few weeks ago. Because it has been a little warmer winter, lots of the snow had melted on the ground. With this in mind, we decided to go to Adam’s Nature Preserve for a few bridal party and bridal portraits. When we arrived, we were definitely in luck, because we were met with lots of beautiful, white, untouched snow!

When we got to the reception, I fell in love with their reception venue! Holiday Inn & Suites in Dakota Dunes, SD is a new venue in the area that is absolutely stunning. Sara and Aaron’s decorations really brought it to the next level. The space was decorated beautifully – centerpieces of wooden tree slabs, twine-wrapped wine bottles, mason jars filled with greenery, and flickering candles. The head table had lots of greenery, twinkling lights, and a handmade “love” sign that hung right behind the two love birds!

Overall, it really was the most perfect day and the best way to kick off my 2020 wedding season! Thank you so much Mr. and Mrs. Book for letting me capture your love for each other on your wedding day!
