Photography is an investment and when making any type of investment, I believe you should always ask questions before you commit or book. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions I receive from my clients and potential clients before their session!
How quickly will I receive my sneak peek? Full gallery?
One of my favorite things that my portrait clients love is how quickly I deliver my images back to them. I don’t like to make my clients wait for their photos! Most of my clients receive a sneak peek within 24 hours of their session to my Facebook or Instagram page. Then I promise full galleries to be delivered to my clients’ inboxes within 4 weeks from their session, but most of the time they’ll see it within 7-10 days!
When should I book my session?
The answer to this depends on the type of session you’re hoping to book and season you hope your session will take place. If you’re looking for a fall family session, I recommend you book in the spring or early summer (my fall dates book up the quickest). If you’re booking a newborn session, I recommend booking shortly into your 2nd trimester to take advantage of my payment plan options. If you’re hoping to book a senior session, you’ll want to book your session during the winter or early spring of your junior year of high school to take advantage of my prime session dates.
How do you deliver photos?
I deliver my images to my clients via an online gallery. I’ve found that this is the easiest way to get the full resolution images to their computer. Online galleries allow you to view, download, and even order prints and products directly from your gallery. You even have the option to share the link with anyone you’d like to show off your photos from your session!
What should I wear?
This is one of the most common questions I receive, especially for family sessions. I’m going to be real… picking out and coordinating outfits for your family that aren’t too “matchy matchy”, but still “go” together can sometimes be tough. When you book a family portrait session with me, I send you my 25-page prep guide that includes tons of guidance to help you pick out outfits for you and your family. If you are still having troubles, don’t worry, because I even offer shoppable links in the guide where you can shop outfits directly from the guide!
Where will my session take place?
This varies from session to session. My newborn and milestone sessions take place at my private photography studio located in Hinton, IA. My family and senior session locations are customized based upon the outfits chosen and the “vibe” they give off. Here’s a link to view some of my favorite locations around Sioux City!
Where can I view your portfolio of past work?
You can view my portfolio and a wide variety of my past work on my website!
I don’t know how to pose – will you help me?
Yesssss! Being in front of the camera can make some people nervous, so I try to ease the nerves by helping you pose during your session. I’ll literally tell you what to do with your feet/legs, hands/arms, and even your head!
What equipment do you use?
I’m a Canon girly! My camera is a Canon R6 and I typically carry around my 50mm, 35mm, and 85mm lenses to my outdoor session. I love my flashes for my indoor portrait sessions – switching between Canon, Einstein, and Westcott flashes.
When is your favorite time to shoot?
My favoriteeee time of day for a portrait session in the morning about 1-2 hours after the sun rises or in the evening 1-2 hours before the sun sets. I’ve found that I can get some really pretty golden tones in my photos when the sun is shining bright and low in the sky.
How would you describe your shooting style?
I’d describe my shooting style as light, bright, vibrant, and colors that are true to life!
What do the investment and payment plan options look like?
Any session I offer has the option to be booked with a payment plan if booked early enough, but I ask that the final payment is made before the session takes place. My clients who book months in advance love the fact that they’re able to break down their balance into small month payments vs. paying one large lump sum weeks before the session.
